Milch & Zucker (Friedrichshain)

TL;DR: Medium size, decent internet, some sockets and great cakes. But we left with a bitter taste: ten minutes after we got our coffee, the waitress notified us that “laptops are not allowed there between 12:30 till 14:30”, so we had to leave.

Milch & Zucker Friedrichshain is one of the favorite places of a friend of mine. She claims that it has amazing Italian cakes (hmmm.. Italian), great atmosphere and functioning Internet. In the afternoons, there are many people there with a laptop.

However, we didn’t like the place. Why? Well, we got there at 12:20, bought coffee, opened our laptops and started working. Ten minutes later came the waitress. “Laptops are not allowed here from 12;30 till 14:30” she told us, and pointed to a tiny sign on the wall. Of course, we didn’t noticed the sign, which was not even near our table, and couldn’t know about their policy. We had to leave.

It’s OK for a cafe to forbid laptops. But there’s a way to do that. In K-Fetisch in Neukolln, for example, it’s clearly stated on tables that laptops are not allowed. But forbidding laptops after the customer already paid for his coffee, and hiding it not cool. Not cool at all.
