West Berlin

TL;DR: great, expensive coffee, plenty of sockets, extreme modern Scandinavian design. Internet is sometimes slow, and the place has a cold feeling due to it’s over-design. Crowded in the afternoons.

Westberlin is a cool cafe next to the touristic Check Point Charlie. It has great coffee, many sockets, loads of people sitting with laptops and one of the most modern-cool designs I’ve seen in Berlin.

How much modern-cool? Well, the furniture is from Scandinavia, the magazines are stylish, the music is electronic, and the customers are all pretty and hip. How they got the customers to fit their design style is beyond me.

However, being cool is ninety percent not caring, which is where Westberlin fails. It tries too hard. Add to that the mediocre Internet, and the low table (do Scandinavian people like to sit with their back bent?), and you get a great place with only four stars review.
